The Wekiwa Baptist Association was organized in 1870 by several Baptist churches – likely one in Orlando, one at Apopka and the other in Oviedo – which formerly affiliated with the South Florida Baptist Association (organized 1867). Although the association’s early history is unknown, the name is derived from the Creek Indian word meaning “spring of water.” It was not until 1882 that the association adopted articles of faith and had 21 affiliated churches in central Florida counties. Nearly a century later in 1978 the association changed its name to the Greater Orlando Baptist Association to better reflect is geographical location.
Provided are digital copies of the annual reports of the Wekiwa/Greater Orlando Association (for the years noted below) that includes: the proceedings of the annual meeting(s); statistical information on its cooperating churches; and reports on the missionary, ministerial and ministry training activities provided by the association.
