Onslow Isabella Huse married a mister Gibson who owned a very large plantation near Columbia, had over 100 slaves, plus a cotton gin on his property. Young Harry Bryant received an excellent education, and was actually trained to be a Catholic priest due to the influence of his mother. Gibson was a captain in the Confederate Army, and was seriously wounded at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. His left leg had to be amputated, and he left the Army in 1864. He literally fought his way through Georgia, and arrived in Madison County, Florida in the region of Concord Baptist Church. On June 16, 1867, he married 18-year-old Mary Jane Loper. At age 66, he was ordained as a Baptist preacher. He spent his life teaching and preaching. He and his wife had two sons and three daughters. Mrs. Gibson died in June 1911, and Captain Gibson died in 1915, at nearly 90 years of age.
