Baptist Documents

The Florida Baptist Historical Society maintains a variety of Florida Baptist-oriented resources for use in history research on churches, associations and individuals. The holdings include printed and microfilm copies of the Florida Baptist State Convention Annuals, Florida Baptist association Annuals, and the Florida Baptist Witness newspaper. In addition, since 1998, the Society has published The Journal of Florida Baptist Heritage which is an annual publication containing scholarly and well-researched articles on individuals, churches and events in Florida Baptist history. All issues of the Journal are available for review on this website. The Society has created and maintains history-related files on over 1,000 churches and more than 4,500 individuals. Brief biographical profiles are available within this website. More detailed information on persons and Florida Baptist churches may be available by contacting the Society office by Email or telephone. From time to time, historically significant Baptist documents (as listed in the drop-down menu) are added to the website for public viewing.

The Florida Baptist Historical Collection is primarily comprised of historically significant printed volumes related to Southern Baptist and Florida Baptist history. Currently the collection contains over 2,500 books (with topics ranging from history to theology to biographies) and bound serial publications. These books are maintained and are listed in the library catalog of The Baptist College of Florida which provides stewardship over the Collection. Go to the BCF library website to review the holdings.
