Cutts,-Allen

Allen S. Cutts and his four brothers followed their father into the Baptist ministry. He graduated from Mercer University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Howard College conferred on him the Doctor of Divinity degree. Cutts desired to earn a doctoral degree in theology but due to the loss of an eye, he was not able to pursue his studies. However, he did not stop his scholarly research. Each year on summer vacation he would read the entire New Testament in Greek. Cutts ad his family left Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1931, to go to Pensacola where he then served as pastor of First Baptist Church from 1931 to 1939.
